PACIFIC LIFE INSURANCE SHOOTS COMMERCIAL
AT THE LODGE
A Hollywood film
crew with 30 people including actors, a floatplane, a helicopter, boats and tons
of equipment spent two intense action-packed days in July 2006 shooting a commercial
for Pacific Life Insurance Company in and around Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge. The
30 second spots aired during ABC fall and winter college football games,
on CNN, Fox News and the PBS News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Pacific Life's logo is
the well known breaching humpback whale. Pacific Life officials said the Tutka
Bay location was selected because of its "breathtaking environment and backdrop
for our commercial." ANCHORAGE'S NBC
NEWS BROADCASTS FROM LODGE
As part of
the series, "Destination Alaska," Anchorage's NBC Channel 2 News broadcast the
July 13th, 2006 6 P.M. and 10 P.M. news live from the Alaskan size deck of Tutka
Bay Wilderness Lodge. Anchor Reporter Megan Baldino interviewed lodge founders,
Jon and Nelda Osgood, focusing on the nearby "Crown Jewel of Alaska State Parks,
Kachemak Bay State Park." The news crew showcased the lodge grounds, guest
activities including fishing and kayaking. Reporter Megan Baldino characterized the
lodge as, "One of a kind . . . high end . . . known around the world . . . a
place of amazing beauty." When she handed the live broadcast back to the
Anchorage studio a newsroom reporter exclaimed, "You could land a Super Cub on
that deck!" CHAMPAGNE, CHOCOLATE AND
CHOPIN ON THE LODGE DECK
Homer News,
August 10, 2006
"It's hard to beat the combination of champagne, chocolate and Chopin. Offer it
on the sweeping deck of picturesque Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge and it gets even
better. Add a cloudless, sunny Alaska evening. Add Orcas and humpback whales to
be viewed during the crossing of Kachemak Bay and it becomes an evening
impossible to forget. Such was the Sunday night event of the Kenai Peninsula
Orchestra Summer Music Festival."
On the first Sunday of each August since 1999, Tutka Bay Wilderness Lodge has
hosted this event featuring teaching musicians from the Lower 48. Lodge guests join music enthusiasts from Homer and
elsewhere for a delightful open air concert in the wilderness while sipping
champagne and enjoying chocolate and other delicacies.
